CARNIVAL QUEENS
CARNIVAL QUEENS
The first representative of our festival was Onagra Díaz Lorenzo, who won the “Certamen de Elección de Miss del Carnaval” in 1935.
In 1965 Santa Cruz de Tenerife recovered the contest under the name “Queen of Carnival in the Winter Festivities“, which is how the carnival was officially called until 1976.
Each year a Queen and her court of honor are chosen in three categories: children, adults and seniors. Popularly, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Queen Election Gala is considered as the starting signal to celebrate the party in the streets.
The Gala is the show with the greatest projection inside and outside our islands. The creativity of the fantasies and the presence of all the groups in the different galas make this event one of the highlights of the Carnival.
