A grand opening gala will welcome the Carnival of Santa Cruz 2025 this Friday.

The event, which will take place on Paseo Teniente Francisco Grandi Giraud, in front of Plaza España, starting at 9:30 p.m., will be broadcast live by Radio Televisión Canaria.

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organism of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), will celebrate this Friday, January 31, in the Paseo Teniente Francisco Grandi Giraud -in front of Plaza España-, the opening ceremony of Carnival 2025. There will be 1,063 seats for the public, who will have access to the seats by invitation, which can be collected on a first-come, first-served basis at the same access door on the day of the event, until full capacity is reached. Access will be open from 8:30 p.m. onwards.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, stressed the importance of an event "that in recent years has had a huge reception by the carnival and carnival and where we will meet all the candidates for queens, in an edition that is generating a lot of expectation.

For his part, the councilman of Fiestas, Javier Caraballero, wanted to thank "the involvement of candidates, designers, sponsors and families throughout these months and I am convinced that they will put the level of this year very high".

Wendy Fuentes, once again this year, will be in charge of conducting this first date of the Carnival of the Secrets of Africa, which will begin at 9:30 pm and will last just over an hour. This will be the starting signal of the edition, through which will pass the 34 aspiring Carnival Queen in its three modalities, to know, in that act, the order in which they will participate in their contests.

To enliven this gala will be the participation of the queens of Carnival 2024, Afro-Canarian artists and the comparsas of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In addition, at this event, the presenters of the various acts of the edition will be unveiled, which will be part of a show that will start with the presence of the queens of 2024 and with an overture that will immerse the audience, from the first minute, in the Secrets of Africa, with performances as significant as that of Marieme Abdoulaye.

Under the direction of Jep Meléndez, the event will be broadcast live on Radio Televisión Canaria for the entire archipelago.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife promotes the World's Best Carnival at FITUR 2025

The councilman of Festivities, Javier Caraballero, attends these days to the International Tourism Fair to present the next edition of the carnival of Chicharrero, which will begin on January 31 with the inaugural gala.

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has taken the Carnival of Santa Cruz to Madrid, starring in the opening and closing of one of the most international events in the country: Wanderlust. The councilman of Festivities, Javier Caraballero, accompanied the queen of Carnival 2024, Corina Mrazek, her court of honor, the Bahitiare Bahia comparsa and the Maquinaria Band, to this internationally renowned promotional show.

Wanderlust is a meeting between professionals from the world of tourism in the center of Madrid that features music, entertainment and gastronomy, and has been held every year since 2017 coinciding with FITUR. This promotional event has chosen the Carnival of Santa Cruz as the undisputed protagonist of the night, giving this Festival of International Tourist Interest the value it has.

For Caraballero, being present at this event means "taking another step forward in the internationalization and promotion of our festival, making known its charms and the traditions that make us unique by the hand of the protagonists of the Carnival", to which he added that he was pleasantly surprised by "the great admiration that there is beyond our borders about our carnival and the great expectation that it generates".

This morning, the Queen of Carnival 2024, as well as the ladies of honor, accompanied the councilman of Festivities to the stand of the Canary Islands, where they will be present throughout the day to publicize the Carnival and distributing promotional flyers with the programming of this new edition 2025, which starts on January 31 with the opening gala.
