Registration Open for Bars at Carnival 2025
Applications must be submitted before February 5th using the standard form available on the Electronic Headquarters website of the City Council.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Autonomous Organization of Parties and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has opened the registration period for bars to be located in the Carnival area. The guidelines for this process, which ends on February 5th, can be consulted on the City Council's Electronic Headquarters at sede.santacruzdetenerife.es/sede/procedimientos-y-servicios/t602.
Applications for authorization must include the required documentation, meet the necessary requirements, and be submitted online by companies via the OAFAR’s electronic platform. Independent individuals (self-employed) may choose to submit through the same platform or in person at the OAFAR’s registration office.
The Mayor of the city, Jose Manuel Bermúdez, emphasizes that "Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the period of highest turnover for our businesses." The Councilor for Parties, Javier Caraballero, adds that this period generates the most excitement due to "the arrival of thousands of visitors from all the Canary Islands, as well as from the rest of Spain and abroad."
Carnival 2025 will kick off on Friday, January 31st, with the inaugural gala, followed by galas and contests until February 27th. The following day, February 28th, will feature the Announcing Parade, leading to the celebration of Carnival on the streets under the usual dance calendar. The full Carnival program is available on the website carnavaldetenerife.com.
Open Registration for the Adult and Children’s Costume Contest of Carnival 202
Individuals and groups interested in participating in any of the categories can register until February 10 through the Electronic Headquarters.
The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has opened registration for the Adult and Children’s Costume Contest of Carnival 2025, dedicated to “The Secrets of Africa,” which will take place on February 23 at 11:00 AM at the Recinto Ferial. This year, the registration period will remain open from today until February 10. Any individual or group wishing to participate in this contest must submit their registration along with the required documentation via the City Council’s Electronic Headquarters.
The order of appearance on stage will be determined by the strict order of registration, and the prizes range from 90 euros for the third-place individual child’s prize to 720 euros for the first-place group prize for more than 12 participants in the adult category.
For the mayor of the city, Jose Manuel Bermúdez, “this is one of the contests that preserves the most essence of our carnival, which was born on the streets and with costumes, and still maintains the same spirit.” For the councilor of Festivities, Javier Caraballero, “this format gives us the opportunity to assess and give more recognition to the work that so many people carry out in a handcrafted way in their homes with the sole purpose of enhancing our streets every February and making our carnival more spectacular.”

Open registration for the stall auction to be held on January 28
The City Council has made available 85 locations for businesses, ranging from taverns to the sale of Carnival products.
The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organization for Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has opened registration for the Carnival 2025 stall auction, which will take place on January 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cajasiete event hall in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This year, of the 85 available locations, 54 will initially be auctioned, as 31 are reserved by OAFAR for usual sponsor exploitation. However, as is customary, if any of these reserved spaces remain available on the day of the auction, they will be auctioned together with the initial lot.
The auction is for the exploitation of stalls such as taverns, food trucks, mobile bars, hot dog stands, nougat and sweet stalls, churro stands, or stalls selling Carnival items, which can be operated by either individuals or companies. The starting prices for Carnival 2025 range from just over 17,000 euros for a tavern located in Plaza de España, measuring 12x4 meters, to just over 600 euros for a 4x2 stall selling Carnival items located in Plaza del Chicharro. The authorization of the spaces will be carried out via a public auction. The procedure will be in an open bidding format, in a single act and a single call.
Interested parties must submit their participation application from today until January 24, 2025, by completing the registration form, providing a power of attorney if acting on behalf of someone else, and registering under the corresponding Economic Activities Tax (IAE) heading.
