The Agrupaciones Musicales take over from the murgas in Carnival contests

The stage of the Recinto Ferial will host tomorrow, Saturday 15, at 20:00 hours, the contest of Musical Groups, which this year has the participation of Salsabor, Los Yuppies, Caña Dulce, Nobleza Canaria, Chaxiraxi, Teiderife, Sabor Isleño, Siboney and Cantares Luz de Luna, who will take the stage in that order.

The presenters Wendy Fuentes and Pedro Machín will be in charge of conducting this event with the musical groups of Carnival, where the public can access by purchasing free tickets at the entrance of the enclosure itself.

The competition's Interpretation jury will be composed of Juan Antonio Domínguez Martín, conductor of the Santa Cruz Municipal Band; Dante Carlos Andreu Frencia, choral conductor and composer; David Cachón Mañanes, professor in the Composition Department of the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias; Dimitri Díaz Abreu, founding president of the Asociación Cultural Canarias Canta and general coordinator of the Ibero-American platform of Choral Movement, and Giselle Alonso Fernández, percussionist and clarinetist graduated from the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory of Music in Havana.

For the Presentation section, the jury will be made up of Luz Sánchez Aguilar, illustrator, painter and fashion and accessories designer of the Pendientera brand; Héctor León León, film and theater costume designer; Beatriz de la Rosa Galván, fashion designer; Esther Rufino García, graduate in Fine Arts and graphic designer; and María Polín Ruíz, graduate in Fine Arts.

Canal 4, Tenerife Plus Televisión and Canal 10 will broadcast the contest live, while Televisión Canaria will broadcast the show on tape delay and the Acapulco Orchestra will be in charge of livening up the waiting time while the jury deliberates.


Santa Cruz already knows the names of the eight murgas that will compete in tomorrow's finals

The final of the Adult Murgas contest of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2025 will put the finishing touch tomorrow, Friday 14, to a week devoted to humor and criticism. Eight groups will compete on the stage of the Recinto Ferial, after this morning the jury has determined that La Sonora, Zeta Zetas, Irónicos, Chaladas, Guachinquietas, Trapaseros, Bambones and Mamelucos, who will perform on Friday in that order.

The chosen ones will reach the final after the celebration of the three previous phases of the contest, in which a total of 23 murgas have participated.
Thousands of people have followed live the evolutions of these groups on the stage of the Recinto Ferial, an audience joined by the spectators of Televisión Canaria, which has broadcast live the three phases and will do the same this Friday with the final, for which there are no more tickets left.

Precisely, two RTVC journalists, Laura Afonso and Alexis Hernández, will be in charge of presenting the show, which will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the traditional performance, out of competition, of the Afilarmónica Ni Fú-Ni Fá. For his part, the journalist and communicator Manoj Daswani will continue to maintain interaction with the followers of the murgas from social networks, managing to place the contest of criticism and Carnival chicharrero within the "hashtags" with greater impact of the day at the level of all Spain.

The City Council, following instructions from the Security Plan management, has set up a locker at the entrance to the Fairgrounds, properly marked, for baby strollers, as well as for objects such as motorcycle helmets, umbrellas with needle tips and liquid containers with lids. Excluded are those for baby food. This service will be staffed by security personnel who will ensure that the objects deposited and returned to their owners at the end of the event.


The Murgas Adultas contest arrives tomorrow to the third and last preliminary phase.

The contest of adult Carnival Murgas will arrive tomorrow, Wednesday 12, to the third and last phase of preliminary, at the end of which will be known, in addition, the eight formations that go to the final next Friday.

Seven groups will take to the main stage of the Recinto Ferial, starting at 8:30 pm. Ni Pico Ni Corto will open the fire and will give way, in this order, to Chinchosos, Guachinquietas, Tras con Tras, Bambones, La Sonora and Sofocadas. The Adult Murgas contest celebrates this Tuesday its second phase at the Fairgrounds

The Fairgrounds will host tomorrow, Tuesday 11, from 20:30 pm, the second phase of the contest of Adult Murgas of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which will feature the participation of eight groups and will begin with the performance of Redoblones, children's murga awarded the second prize for Interpretation in the contest held last week in the same stage of the Fairgrounds.

A total of 23 groups participate this year in the contest that will end this Friday, the 14th, with the celebration of the final of the contest.

This second appointment with the murgas of the Carnival of Chicharrero will be starred by the formations Irónicos, Desatadas, Tiralenguas, Zeta Zetas, Trabachones, Jocicudas, Trapaseros and Triqui Traques.

LS Tribu wins first place for interpretation and presentation in the Choreographic competition

LS Tribu won this afternoon the first prize for Interpretation in the contest of choreographic groups of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2025. Second prize was won by Compañía La Vica and third place went to Loli Pérez, while Odalis Star received a runner-up prize.

As for the Presentation chapter, the jury awarded first place to LS Tribu, who won a double, second prize to Loli Perez, while the third prize went to Wild Dance. The runner-up prize for best costume went to Crew of dreams.

The groups that participated in the competition were Compañía La Vica, Crew of Dreams, Wild Dance, Crazy Dancer, Ibaute, Club Deportivo Andreína Acosta, Odali, Onys Escuela de Baile, Star Dance, Moana, LS Tribu, V Dance, Loli Pérez, Nameless Project, Patronato Cultural Arona and Ballet Dance, who took the stage in that order after the draw held last December.

The jury was composed of María del Mar Martorell Mensugo, fashion stylist; Javier Aguilar Afonso, fashion designer of the firm Ananas Wear; and Cristo Rodríguez Torres, technician of clothing, fashion and leather.

The interpretation category was composed by Leila Rodríguez Hernández, choreographer, dancer and gymnast, dance and rhythmic gymnastics teacher; Cristofer Fernández Arteaga, international dancer and choreographer, organizer of the Tenerife Latin Festival, dance teacher and Head of Studies at the MM Danza School; María Vianney Morales González, choreographer and modern dance teacher; María Odinokova, professional dancer of international classical ballet companies; and Daniel Jesús García Gómez, choreographer and dancer of urban dances and member of the Escena Ballroom de España.


The Carnival 2025 adult murgas contest takes the stage at the Recinto Ferial tomorrow Monday

The Fairgrounds will host, from tomorrow, Monday 10, the contest of adult murgas of this year's Carnival. The contest, which is divided into three phases and final, will be attended by a total of 23 formations.

The murgas responsible for acting in the first phase, which will start at 20:30 hours will be, in this order, Marchilongas, Desbocados, Chaladas, Burlonas, Diablos Locos, Mamelucos, Charlatanas and Diabólicas. The first phase, in addition, will begin with the performance of Castorcitos, group awarded the third prize for Interpretation in the Contest of Children's Murgas. Then, each of the eight participating murgas will perform two songs on stage along with their presentation and farewell.

The 4,238 tickets for the final of adult murgas offered for sale on the Internet are sold out.

The 4,238 tickets for the final of the adult murgas contest put on sale today by the Autonomous Organism of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife were sold out an hour and a half after activating this service, at 9:00 am, through the platform entradascarnavaltenerife.es. The purchase process was completed without incident.

Of the total number of tickets issued through the Internet, 3,038 are exclusively for the final of the contest, while the remaining 1,200 correspond to the vouchers for the three phases and the final of the contest, which were sold in their entirety an hour and a half after the beginning of their telematic distribution.

OAFAR will distribute the rest of the tickets among the murgas participating in the Carnival 2025 contest, while the seats that complete the capacity are distributed, upon payment of their amount, among the Carnival's sponsors and collaborators. All the tickets that make up the total capacity of the murgas final are therefore paid, without exception.

The final of this contest will take place on Friday, February 14, at 8:30 p.m., on the stage of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Fairgrounds and will feature the performances of the groups with the highest scores in the three previous phases.

The rest of the competitions that make up the program of Carnival 2025 have also had a good pace of sales on the first day, remembering that the galas of adult and child queens will go on sale from tomorrow Thursday, January 30, at 9:00 am online. Once again this year, tickets for the choreography contest have been sold out, as well as the third phase of the adult murgas contest.

On sale at the box office

The issuance of tickets at the ticket offices of the Fairgrounds will begin days before the contest of children's murgas, which will begin on February 7, from 10:00 to 13:00 hours and from 17:00 to 20:00 hours. On days when competitions and galas take place, the opening hours will be maintained until approximately the end of the event.

In the case of the Gala of the Elderly, access will be by invitation, given its free nature, which will be distributed on the date of celebration, Wednesday, February 19, in a space enabled and properly signposted outside the fairgrounds.


The City Hall hosts the reception of the candidates for Carnival 2025 queens.

The Plenary Hall of the City Council of Santa Cruz has hosted this afternoon the reception of the 34 candidates aspiring to the scepters of queens of Carnival 2025 in the categories of adult, child and senior. The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, together with the councilman of the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), Javier Caraballero, and the directors of the galas, Jep Meléndez and Daniel Pages, received the participants in this year's contests.

In his speech to the candidates, Bermudez said "this is one of the most beautiful and significant events that are held annually in this Plenary Hall, because it is the first time that you appear before the media and you can see the enthusiasm and desire with which each of you do it". In addition, the mayor appreciated the effort made by sponsors and designers, "whose enthusiasm and effort make it possible for each of the fantasies to become a success for our festival".

For his part, the councilman of Festivities stressed that "the queens of the carnival are a fundamental part of the party and are the ones who receive more affection from the public" and took the opportunity to "thank designers and sponsors for the work they do to keep alive a tradition so beautiful. After the greetings and the presentation of bouquets of flowers, the municipal representation and the aspiring queens posed for the photographers.

Next Friday, day 31, at 21:30 pm, is scheduled to be held at the Paseo Teniente Francisco Grandi Giraud (opposite Plaza Spain) of the first of the events scheduled in this Carnival, the Inaugural Gala, which will be held the draw that will establish the order of participation in the galas of election of the Queen of children, adults and adults.


Santa Cruz awards 43 Carnival stalls for 221,608 euros

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2025, which will take place between February 28 and March 9 in the street and will be dedicated to Los Secretos de África, will have a total of 43 kiosks specialized in the sale of Carnival items, drinks and food. The stalls will be located in the streets of Valentín Sanz, Villalba Hervás, La Marina and Castillo, as well as in the squares of Spain and Candelaria.

The Autonomous Organism of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife held today, Tuesday, the auction of the kiosks, which was held by a show of hands and through the system known as 'puja a la llana'. The starting prices of the stalls, which are maintained with respect to past editions of the festival, ranged from 620, 08 euros of the cheapest and 17,584.84 euros, this being the highest bid, with those who started the inns to be installed in the squares of Spain and Candelaria.

The event concluded with the awarding of 43 kiosks out of the total of 54 stands that were put up for auction for a total amount of 221,680 euros, an important economic injection for the maintenance and improvement of the festival itself. A total of 11 stalls were left vacant and the OAFAR reserves another 31, to which the commercial firms sponsoring the Carnival will have access upon payment of the fee.

The kiosks will be open to the public from February 28 to March 9, coinciding with the dates of the Carnival street events.

Registration open for booth auction to be held on January 28th

The City Council has arranged 85 locations for businesses ranging from inns to the sale of carnival products.

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Autonomous Organism of Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR), has opened the registration to access the auction of Carnival 2025 stalls to be held on January 28 at 10:00 am in the auditorium of Cajasiete in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This year, of the 85 locations available, 54 will initially be put up for auction, as 31 are reserved by OAFAR for the usual exploitation by sponsors. However, as is customary, if any of them are still available on bidding day, they will be auctioned together with the initial lot.

The auction is aimed at the operation of stalls such as inns, food trucks, drive-throughs, hot dog stands, nougat and candy stands, churrerías or stalls selling Carnival items, which may be individuals or legal entities. The starting prices for Carnival 2025 range from just over 17,000 euros for the inn that will be located in the Plaza de España, with dimensions of 12x4 meters, to just over 600 euros for the 4x2 stall selling Carnival items located in the Plaza del Chicharro. The authorization of the spaces will be carried out by means of an auction of bids to the plain. The procedure shall be viva voce, in a single act and in one call.

Interested persons must submit their application for participation, from today until January 24, 2025, filling out the registration form, the power of attorney in case of acting on behalf of another person and the registration in the corresponding epigraph of the Economic Activities Tax (IAE).
